New York City Electronic Equipment Collection, Recycling and Reuse Act

If not donating unwanted electronic equipment for reuse, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation currently requires all businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies to dispose of unwanted electronics through dismantlers and recyclers.


After July 1, 2009, according to this Act, it will be illegal for any businesses or individuals to dispose of certain electronic equipment covered by the law in the trash.
